TOPIC: Duplex button

Why is the Duplex button greyed out? Nothing seems to allow me to switch it on and I hear nothing.

I have switched the audio input to my headset in preferences, but VCS Diamond 7.0 seems to get no sound - other software seems to be able to hear from the microphone in the head set, just not VCS

Are these two problems related? if so, how is it fixed?

So far this software has seemed very unstable.
