Overall it seems like a good program so far, but sometimes it's just a little out of reach. If we were able to disable certain functions or control more factors like reverb sliders for drying or whatever it would greatly help. Just when I have an almost great voice it sounds somewhat hollow. I'm using a Blue Snowball Ice for my microphone and the Logitech USB H540 headphones if that's important.

The voice comparator function has great potential but its outputs aren't too convincing. The Voice Comparator should have a slider for how much time we're willing to give it to come up with the perfect settings and also takes into account the formants, formant pitch, and the voice beautifying settings. It's a good program so far and many of the issues I suspect are down to user error since I need to learn the nuances better. It feels like a complicated game of hot and cold I move something, then it gets artificial, then I change something somewhere else, but the small issue I try fixing gets worse, I revert and do something else, etc.


There's also not much guidance for what the formant settings do other than vaguely knowing that higher is higher pitched. What's the difference between formant 1, 2, 3, and 4?

I don't need them exactly alike, I'd be quite satisfied with something similar. My goal for example isn't sounding like Terry Crews per se as awesome as that would be but a high energy athlete for that voice. I'm also trying a few 10-15 year old female voices.

About Formant 1, 2, 3 and 4, the explanation will be quiet complicated with all the algorithm. Therefore, in order to fully understand about them, we will write an article about this and publish in our Support Center later.

We would like to give some recommendations about your settings:

- When adjusting the Formant Pitch, you have to be more careful than other things. It is very effective when done right to produce your desired voice, but may make your voice sound unrealistic more easily sometimes.

- Take into account the Equalizer, as it will determine the voice's characteristics pretty well.

- About the Formants 1,2,3 and 4, I would like to note it here:
* 4 Formants (Default 55% - 100%): Each corresponds to a “resonance” in the “vocal tract.” Generally, 3 or 4 Formants are required to synthesize a vowel sound; however the first two are the most important in determining vowel quality, and so they are referred to as the “Vowel Formants.”
- The lower the values are, the lower the formants will be moved, and the lower the modified voice will be.
- Vice versa, to make the voice squeakier, increase the formants’ values.

Recap:
- The Formants 1 and 2 will affect your vowel sounds the most.
- Take into account Equalizer for your settings, it is a very handy tool.

A little explanation about the Formants 1 and 2 (F1 and F2):
- A formant is a concentration of acoustic energy around a particular frequency in the speech wave. There are several formants, each at a different frequency.
- Each formant corresponds to a resonance in the vocal tract.
- The formant with the lowest frequency is called F1, the second F2, and the third F3. Most often the two first formants, F1 and F2, are enough to disambiguate the vowel. -> Therefore, they are the most important.
- Each vowel will consist of different Hz values of the formants. Example:
Vowel "i" has F1 at 240 and F2 at 2400. Vowel "e" has F1 at 390 and F2 at 2300.
- By dragging the Formants up or down in voice changer software, you will modify how the voice's vowels sound.

Aka: when changing F1 and F2, you will make the vowels sound differently, like putting more "i", "a", "e", "u" and other vowels into the words with the different combinations of F1 and F2.
>> If you adjust too high or too low, the vowels of some words may... disappear, as there may be no clear vowel with that combination.
